Smartville is a small town in the old gold rush area of
Northern California in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountain range near
Grass Valley. It is also near towns of Rough & Ready and Timbuctoo. You
probably will not find that last one on any but local maps. At least we have a
small new post office, but not much else. Years ago there was a hotel here so
travelers could rest when they traveled by horse from Grass Valley/Nevada City
to Marysville, California.
